Happy New Year to All!

So this Holiday season has had its ups and downs. The ups for us has been that my cooking skills have increased without serving Eric anything uneatable. We had decided to be ambition for Christmas Eve and have our own turkey dinner. I was excited to roast my first turkey but I was not able to sty with it the whole time or even put it in the oven because I had to work at the library. So I gave Eric the instructions and prayed that all would be well. When I got back after work, he had followed the directions and we still had about 45 minutes for the turkey to finish. When it was finally ready we pulled it out and all bets were off. I knew that it was very easy for a turkey to be dry so I was hoping that mine would not be too dry, but I was prepared with lots of gravy. So after Eric craved the turkey I held my breath while he took the first bite. And wouldn't you know it tasted great! I had a bite and found it really moist and great. I was surprised and thanked my heavenly father for staving off my cooking disaster for another year.
The downs have been that I have a huge head cold that I can not seem to get rid off. This is a major problem because I am WAY to much like my dad. This means I am an impossible patient who can not stay in bed for long periods and am very cranky when I can not sleep due to the lack of being able to breath. Eric has been very patient and has tried to take care of me. But I think he will be singing praises to our God and King when I am better. The cold is not as bad as it was the day after Christmas, but the major problem is that I don't get the common cold in the common way. I get the cold intensified. Eric has not been sick and the only other person to get this cold that I know of is in Utah. So unless germs can b passed through the phone I must have gotten from one of the kids at the library, which is fine. But I just don't have time for this. I love my job and really want to just work without having to stop and blow my nose or try to keep my balance because my ears are plugged. I also am getting ready to start school up again so I need to have my full mind in order to  make it happen. Finally, I just need to get all the house work done. Because poor Eric had to wear dirty jeans on Monday because I had been unable to get the laundry done and he is not allowed to touch the washer. It is mostly because his is intimidate by my very complex system of prepping the clothes for the wash along with the detergents that are put in.

So with that being said the Winslow family is doing pretty well. We have only been married for a little over six months but we are still very much in love. Also we are really enjoying each other more and more. Even when we are sick or cranky. To end this very long post I will give everyone a chance to laugh. So I decided to be really great to Eric for Christmas and not just get him one really nice present but also a toy. Since he is just as big kid as me. Well since I grew up with boys I knew Eric would love something like a Nerf gun. (I know all you experienced women are saying bad idea). Well I went to the local toy store and found a Nerf gun with the foam darts. Eric is so quiet I thought oh he will shot it but he is mart enough not to shoot it at me. WRONG! After he got it out of the package on Christmas morning it took him about three second to figure out how it worked to shoot me with it. It was made worse by the fact that I was on the phone with my brothers wishing them a Merry Christmas and they were egging Eric on to shoot me a gun. Luckily by the time I started baking cookies and things the news of the gun wore off and he became more focused on the food. I just hope that he will not remember where it is. Happy Holidays and may each of you have a wonderful new year filled with joy and surprises.

Holiday Season

So, I know it has been a while since I have posted and I know I still owe everyone pictures from Disney World. Things have gotten a little busy. Eric left at the end of September for training in Fort Worth, Texas, It was seven weeks of trying not to go crazy without him. Luckily I had my parents who came down along with the unpacking and organizing of our home to keep me busy. I went out to be with him at the beginning of November and then we drove back together through western Texas and eastern New Mexico. The funniest part of all of this is that  I did not realize how much of a greenhorne my husband is. For those of you that know western Texas is cattle and cotton country. Well Eric was so fascinated with the cotton fields and the cows that he almost ran us off the road. When I discovered this I realized that I need to get him to southwestern Missouri soon. It is not a family joke that Eric loves cows, but in reality it is just that he has spent most of his life in the city. So just so you all know my family is really looking forward to putting him to work in March.
Now for the really fun part of this post, Christmas. It has been a quiet holiday season for us. We stay in Farmington, NM and spent time with our new friends here. We did get to talk to family and unwrap gifts. But the best gift was that we were family able to go to the doctor. For the past five months we have been battling with the insurance company to first, get our id cards, then find a doctor and oh hey get our network changed to Farmington, New Mexico not Logan, Utah. But have quite a few headaches and tears all is well. Our doctor is very nice and extremely helpful. Since we are starting to try and start a family I felt a lot better talking to the doctor and getting on more vitamins. Now it is all in the Lord's hands to when we will have the joy of being parents. Right now we are just trying to enjoy being married and love the fact that we have newlywed painted on our faces in public. Well this is all for now. I will write more soon. Happy Holidays to all our dear loved ones!
